The start of the revamp, after a thorough cleaning. I cored new holes for the suction and discharge lines. I installed two bottom drains and one no-niche skimmer so water circulates from the bottom and top levels of the pond. A Photo showing the two shallow end jet returns from the pump. These provided circulation in an area where otherwise there was none. Everything below water was painted black when complete. The pump station was completely moved to a new location and rebuilt with all new components except for the UV lights mounted against the back wall. I designed the hydro-mechanical to use an Advantage bead filter rated for a 10k gallon pond. The system is driven by two 1/3 Hp Performance Pro pumps. A number of changes were made to the surrounding plant material after completion and 25 shubunkin or pseudo koi were added as well. Six months later the water, plants, fish, and the client are happy and well. A custom submersible pump enclosure and adjustable stand, made entirely of non-corrosive materials, PVC and stainless steel. A three tiered watershape constructed under an existing deck. The timber backdrop was also part of the construction. This feature was difficult to photograph due to the lighting contrast under the deck. A photo taken right before a formal gathering. We did the plantings, irrigation, lighting, and drainage on this project as well. It took approximately 10 days to complete. One unique part of this watershape was that it was constructed entirely of volcanic stone which was easy to manipulate, ie. fabricate for a better fit, but required extreme care on top of the liner due to its extremely sharp characteristics. We had a narrow area within which to construct this project, approximately 20ft x 100ft. As one can see we created the small amount of topography to achieve the running stream. The stream meandered along the fence line, dropping through two small weirs only to disappear underground at about its centerline. We did this in an effort to maintain accessibility to the space for the homeowners and it was a neat effect. The finish to this watershape was a small reflecting pool, with overhanging rock edges, and lit from within. We installed this one with a remote control start for convenience to the homeowners as well. This objective with this poolside waterwall was to create whitewater on a near vertical setting. It required calculations for fill rate of the custom water chambers as well as their design, angle of cant on the wall, and its serpentine nature for containment, and more. We created this rig to move a number of 2-3 ton boulders in this streambed manually. It was cost prohibitive to use machinery to try to perform this task.
